South African cricket legend AB de Villiers has endorsed the inclusion of young batting talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in India’s T20I team, emphasizing the player’s merit despite his age. De Villiers commended Vaibhav’s performances, stating that his skills warranted the selection and that he deserved the opportunity. Former Australian cricketer Shane Watson also lauded Vaibhav’s power-hitting abilities and fearless approach to batting during a private event.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, a 15-year-old prodigy, caught the attention of selectors with his exceptional performances, leading to his selection in the Indian T20 squad. Watson praised Vaibhav’s capability to hit boundaries all around the field, highlighting his strength in both leg and off-side shots. Watson further admired Vaibhav’s fearless mindset, a quality he believes has propelled the young cricketer’s rapid ascent in the sport.
Following a stellar IPL 2026 season with the Rajasthan Royals, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi emerged as the tournament’s top run-scorer, amassing 776 runs, including a century and five half-centuries. Recognized as the Most Valuable Player of the season, Vaibhav’s impressive performance led to his maiden call-up to the Indian team, making him one of the youngest players ever to be named in the senior squad. If he debuts in the upcoming T20I series, Vaibhav could become India’s youngest international cricketer.
