Bollywood actor Abhay Deol reminisced about a memorable moment from the film “Dev D” where he improvised dialogues on the spot to enhance a scene. In a social media post, Deol shared a video clip showcasing his interaction as Dev with the character Rasika, played by actress Parakh Madan. Initially, the scene had no dialogues scripted for his character, prompting Deol to let his character’s instincts guide him.
Director Anurag Kashyap appreciated Deol’s spontaneous approach, commending him for seamlessly incorporating various elements of the room into the scene. The actor’s impromptu performance earned him praise and validation from the director. With just one take, the scene was successfully captured, marking a significant moment for Deol in finding his character’s voice.
“Dev D,” a contemporary adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel “Devdas,” features Deol alongside Mahie Gill and Kalki Koechlin. Released in February 2009, the film portrays the journey of Devendra Singh “Dev” Dhillon, a young man grappling with addiction following a heartbreak. The narrative unfolds in modern-day Punjab and Delhi, delving into Dev’s tumultuous relationships and unexpected connection with Chanda, an escort dealing with her own emotional turmoil.
