Former India cricketer Abhinav Mukund expressed concern over Rajasthan Royals’ choice to exclude Ravi Bishnoi from their recent IPL 2026 match against Punjab Kings. Bishnoi, who had a strong start with nine wickets in four games, saw a decline in performance, managing only two wickets in the following matches. This decision led to his replacement by 19-year-old Yash Raj Punja, who performed well in the match that RR won.
Mukund questioned the team’s decision, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a core group of successful players in the IPL. He highlighted that dropping Bishnoi for another leg-spinner could significantly impact his confidence. Despite Punja’s decent performance in the match, former cricketer Piyush Chawla also raised doubts about leaving out Bishnoi, stating that he was in good form.
Rajasthan Royals, currently in third place on the points table, will face Delhi Capitals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on May 1.
