Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee criticized the BJP, emphasizing the need for a change in government at the Centre. He highlighted that the focus should be on changing the ‘landlords’ of Delhi, not Bengal itself. Banerjee used Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan, ‘Change is needed, we need a BJP government,’ as a point of contention during a road show in Nadia district.
Banerjee accused the BJP of attempting to influence the people of Bengal through financial withholding and harassment. He asserted that neither the Trinamool Congress nor the people of Bengal would succumb to such pressure tactics. Additionally, Banerjee criticized BJP leaders for their sudden adoption of Bengali culture, suggesting that their efforts were insincere and merely for political gain.
The Trinamool Congress leader raised concerns about central government oppression and alleged misuse of agencies against his party members. Banerjee expressed confidence that the people of Bengal would respond to this oppression in the upcoming Assembly elections by limiting the BJP to fewer than 50 seats. He framed the elections as a battle for Bengal’s rights against Delhi’s authoritarianism.
