Abhishek Sharma’s blistering 74 off 28 balls propelled Sunrisers Hyderabad to a commanding total of 219 runs in 20 overs against Punjab Kings in the 17th IPL 2026 match at the PCA New International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. Opening the innings, Sharma, along with Travis Head, aggressively took on the bowlers right from the start, putting the opposition under pressure.
Sharma’s aggressive approach saw him score 20 runs off Arshdeep Singh in the third over and reach his fifty in just 18 balls with two consecutive sixes off Vijaykumar Vyshak in the fifth over. Head also contributed with 38 runs off 23 balls before being dismissed by Shashank Singh, breaking the 120-run opening partnership. Sharma’s innings ended at 78 runs, featuring five fours and eight sixes.
Despite losing quick wickets, Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen stabilized the innings, with Klaasen scoring 39 runs off 33 balls. However, Sunrisers Hyderabad managed only 43 runs in the last five overs, finishing at 219/6. Punjab Kings’ Shashank Singh was the standout bowler, conceding just 20 runs in three overs and taking two crucial wickets.
