The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Rajasthan detained Dholapani SHO Praveen Kumar Charan from Pratapgarh district following a complaint accusing him of soliciting a bribe to assist in a rape case. The complaint alleged that Charan demanded money to protect the complainant’s brother and ensure the father was not wrongly implicated.
ACB officials, acting on the complaint, conducted an operation that led to the detention of Charan, who serves as the Police Inspector and Station House Officer (SHO) at Dholapani Police Station. The operation was carried out under the supervision of ACB authorities.
During the operation, Charan was apprehended while traveling in his private vehicle after reportedly accepting the bribe through an intermediary. The ACB team recovered a sum of Rs 2,87,150 in cash from Charan’s possession during a search at the Narsinghpura Toll Plaza on the Nimbahera Highway.
Charan, upon interrogation, failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the recovered amount and was subsequently taken into custody by the ACB team. Further investigations are ongoing under the oversight of Additional Director General of Police (ACB) Smita Srivastava, with a search of Charan’s official residence also being conducted.
