The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Andhra Pradesh has once again interrogated a suspended Assistant Commissioner from the Endowments Department, Kalingiri Shanti, in connection with a Disproportionate Assets case. Shanti was taken into custody from Vijayawada district jail by ACB officials and later questioned after a medical examination at Vijayawada Government General Hospital.
This marks the second instance where the ACB court has granted police custody for Shanti. Previously, she was allowed to be questioned on April 15 and 16. However, the anti-graft agency informed the court of her lack of cooperation during the investigation, leading to the request for her custody once more.
Following her arrest on April 7, during which assets worth Rs 1.37 crore were discovered, including a residential flat, gold and silver articles, cash, and other possessions, a Disproportionate Assets case was registered against Shanti under the Prevention of Corruption Act. She had been suspended previously in 2024 over alleged irregularities and reinstated recently, only to face suspension again after her arrest.
