Acting on the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Headquarters’ directives in Jaipur, the ACB’s Tonk Unit in Rajasthan apprehended two individuals, Dr (Ms.) Meenu Gangal, an Associate Professor and Head of Department, and Ramesh Chand Meena, an Assistant Professor/Associate at Dr K.N. Modi University, Banasthali Road, Niwai. The arrests were made while the accused were accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
The Director General of Police (ACB), Govind Gupta, revealed that a complaint had been lodged with the ACB’s Tonk Unit, alleging that a student enrolled in the two-year B.Ed. course at Dr K.N. Modi University was facing harassment by the accused duo. The complaint stated that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 23,000 to regularize the student’s attendance, allow him to sit for exams, and issue his admit card.
Following a complaint, verification procedures were carried out on May 21, 2026, where the accused reiterated their demand for the bribe and assured the student that payment would secure his exam appearance and admit card issuance. Subsequently, a trap operation was orchestrated under the supervision of Narayan Togas, Deputy Inspector General of Police, ACB Ajmer Range, and led by Trap Laying Officer Rishikesh Meena, Additional Superintendent of Police, ACB Tonk.
During the operation, Dr Meenu Gangal instructed Ramesh Chand Meena to accept the bribe of Rs 20,000 from the student in her office chamber. Ramesh Chand Meena received the money, counted it, and concealed it in his pocket, leading to its recovery by the ACB team. Both accused were arrested on the spot during the bribe acceptance. Further investigations and proceedings are ongoing under the supervision of Smita Srivastava, Additional Director General of Police, ACB.
A case has been filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act, with the investigation continuing.
