The Accord Tamil Nadu Dragons claimed the top spot in the Men’s Hockey India League (HIL) after a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Soorma Hockey Club at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Chennai. Selvaraj Kanagaraj, Uttam Singh, and Blake Govers scored for the Dragons, while Maninder Singh and captain Harmanpreet Singh netted for Soorma.
Soorma started the match with patient possession, but the Dragons’ pressure led to early chances. Despite a goalless first phase, both teams struggled to create clear opportunities. The Dragons’ Selvaraj Kanagaraj opened the scoring in the 28th minute, followed by Uttam Singh’s goal in the 30th minute.
In the third quarter, Soorma showed urgency, with Harmanpreet Singh winning a penalty corner but failing to convert. The Dragons’ disciplined defense held firm as Soorma pushed forward. The Dragons extended their lead to 3-1 in the final quarter through Blake Govers, but Soorma fought back with a goal from Harmanpreet Singh.
The match ended with intense moments as Soorma pressed for an equalizer, but the Dragons’ defense remained resolute. With this win, the Accord Tamil Nadu Dragons now lead the Men’s Hero Hockey India League table with five points.
