Actor and activist Ahimsa Chetan lodged a police complaint against producer Sa Ra Govindu, accusing him of using abusive language and making threats. The complaint stemmed from Govindu’s alleged intimidating behavior towards Chetan at his residence following objections raised about land allotment for late Kannada cinema legend Dr. Rajkumar by the Karnataka government. Chetan, along with members of various organizations, submitted the complaint at the Seshadripuram Police Station.
Chetan, in his defense, apologized for his earlier remarks while highlighting Govindu’s controversial past. He claimed that Govindu had a history of aggression, including an incident where he reportedly assaulted media personnel at the Lankesh Patrike office. Chetan further accused Govindu of financial irregularities within the film industry and criticized his alleged misuse of Dr. Rajkumar’s name.
According to Chetan, individuals advocating for the film industry’s welfare often face threats and intimidation tactics. He emphasized that Govindu’s behavior, as described by Chetan, was witnessed by several individuals, including police officers and media members. Chetan mentioned that multiple organizations jointly filed a complaint with supporting evidence, which has been acknowledged by the police pending legal advice for further action.
Chetan also raised concerns about Govindu’s alleged derogatory remarks against Dalits and vowed to continue protesting against such statements. The actor’s initial social media post questioning the allocation of land for an actor’s memorial complex in Bengaluru in 2006 had triggered the recent events. Chetan stressed the importance of responsible land distribution by the government for public benefit rather than for political gains.
