Anticipating a potential hung assembly in the Tamil Nadu elections, actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay is taking proactive steps to safeguard his party’s interests. With exit polls showing varied outcomes, including a strong debut for his party, Vijay is arranging for a private resort to host winning candidates post-results. This move aims to prevent any attempts to lure away successful candidates from his party.
Party sources revealed that preparations are underway to accommodate elected MLAs at a private resort in Poonjeri near Mahabalipuram. The resort, capable of hosting over 100 individuals, will serve as a temporary residence for TVK’s victorious candidates immediately after the election results are announced. Vijay has instructed party officials to ensure the facility is fully operational, demonstrating a proactive stance in managing potential challenges post-election.
In response to the exit polls, Vijay has directed all winning candidates to promptly report to the party headquarters in Panaiyur. During a subsequent meeting, he humorously advised the candidates not to leave anywhere after their victory, highlighting the gravity of the situation. Alongside logistical arrangements, Vijay has mobilized the party’s legal team to be prepared for any eventualities during the vote counting process.
Moreover, Vijay has tasked the party’s general secretary for election campaign management, Aadhav Arjuna, to request increased security from the Election Commission of India at counting centers to ensure law and order. While the ruling DMK party remains optimistic about its return to power, it has urged its members to stay vigilant and closely observe the counting process. As Tamil Nadu faces a closely contested political scenario, the state may witness intense post-election strategies, with “resort politics” emerging as a crucial tactic in the power struggle.
