Actor Subodh Bhave discussed the emotional responsibility of playing Neem Karoli Baba in the biopic “Shree Baba Neeb Karori Maharaj.” He expressed the challenges of portraying a saint on screen due to the deep emotional and spiritual connection audiences have with such figures.
Bhave mentioned that he felt chosen for the role solely by the blessings of Maharaj Ji. He emphasized the difficulty in playing a saint, given the high regard and faith people have for them, making it essential to receive the saint’s blessings for authenticity.
When approached for the movie, Bhave admitted his initial lack of knowledge about Neem Karoli Baba. However, after learning about the spiritual figure’s life story from the director, he felt a strong connection. Bhave believed that being chosen for the role was a result of the saint’s selection, rather than his own decision.
In response to a question about portraying Neem Karoli Baba’s simplicity and calmness, Bhave shared that he believed capturing the spiritual essence of a saint required blessings. He credited Maharaj Ji’s grace for making the portrayal feel natural and not overly challenging.
