Actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay celebrated his 52nd birthday on Monday, marking his first birthday since taking office as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. To commemorate the occasion, special prayers, ‘annadanam’ programs, blood donation camps, and welfare initiatives were organized by TVK functionaries across the State, turning Vijay’s birthday into a statewide celebration.
The event has triggered festivities throughout Tamil Nadu, with party members, supporters, and well-wishers arranging special events and welfare activities in different districts. Vijay’s journey from a popular actor in Tamil cinema to the highest political position in the State has been widely acclaimed as a remarkable political transformation in recent times.
Having entered politics officially on February 2, 2024, by launching his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), Vijay quickly gained attention across the State. He conducted two significant political conferences in Vikravandi and Madurai, drawing large crowds and establishing TVK as a key player in Tamil Nadu politics.
Advocating social justice, good governance, and inclusive development, Vijay expanded his political influence by aligning his vision with prominent figures such as Periyar E.V. Ramasamy, K. Kamaraj, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Velu Nachiyar, and Anjalai Ammal. Contesting the 2026 Assembly elections within two years of forming TVK, Vijay campaigned independently, connecting directly with voters to bring about political change.
His campaign resonated strongly with the electorate, with the party’s whistle symbol becoming a notable feature of the election season. The election outcome marked a historic win for TVK, leading Vijay to form the government and be sworn in as Chief Minister on May 10, signifying a significant shift in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.
During the ongoing Assembly session, legislators from both ruling and Opposition Benches are anticipated to convey birthday wishes to the Chief Minister. Reports suggest that Vijay might make a significant announcement in the Assembly today.
