Actress Geetanjali Kulkarni shared her fulfilling journey working on the short film ‘Razaa,’ where she portrayed Sabeen’s mother. The well-prepared set and detailed process brought her creative satisfaction and empowerment as an actor. Geetanjali expressed that the opportunity to work on every beat of the story in ‘Razaa’ was rare and special for her.

Pooja Tolani’s short film ‘Razaa’ won the Best Debut Director Award at India’s premier documentary and short film festival, as well as the Best First Time Director in Greece. Tolani highlighted the film’s exploration of women’s agency and the importance of female solidarity. The majority-women team behind the film added to the sisterhood experience during its making.

Director Suresh Triveni, co-producer of ‘Razaa’ with Radhika Sawhney, praised Tolani’s clarity of voice and compassion for characters in the film. Triveni emphasized the sensitive handling of the subject matter in ‘Razaa’ and the need for wider audience reach beyond festivals. Producer Radhika Sawhney commended the film’s focus on women taking control of their lives, aligning with her strong belief in such narratives.
