The television industry is reeling from the unexpected passing of actress Sanchita Ugale. The All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) President, Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, has urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to launch a thorough inquiry into Ugale’s death. AICWA is seeking a comprehensive investigation from all angles to ensure justice for Ugale and her family.
A statement from the Association emphasized the impact of Ugale’s untimely demise on her family and the Indian film industry. AICWA stressed the importance of uncovering the truth behind the tragic incident and ensuring a fair and transparent investigation. They called on authorities to leave no stone unturned in examining all aspects of the case.
AICWA has also appealed to the Maharashtra government and relevant bodies to set up a dedicated committee to address the rising number of deaths and mental health crises in the entertainment sector. The Association highlighted the need to review safety measures, well-being initiatives, and support systems for artists in the industry. They underscored the importance of investigating all available evidence and circumstances surrounding such incidents with transparency.
According to police reports, Sanchita Ugale took her own life at her residence in Sai Santoshi Building, Nalasopara East, Mumbai, on June 14 between 7:00 pm and 7:30 pm.
