Actress Sandhya Mridul initiated a discussion on class discrimination and entitled behavior by sharing an incident where her family’s domestic help was turned away from two upscale salons for a haircut. The actress expressed deep distress, highlighting a broader societal issue.
In a video posted on social media, Sandhya recounted how her mother accompanied their domestic help for a haircut but faced rejection at both salons they visited. The young domestic help felt embarrassed and upset due to the denial of service.
Sandhya revealed that her mother, known for her gentle nature, had to persistently request the salon staff to cater to the girl. Despite pleas and offers to pay extra, the initial refusal continued until the salon eventually relented after much persuasion.
The incident, according to the actress, signifies a systemic discrimination faced by domestic workers and service providers, extending beyond a single haircut to a larger societal bias against such individuals. Sandhya emphasized the need to address and rectify such discriminatory practices.
