Adani Agri Fresh Limited, a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Limited, is venturing into the stone fruit segment, starting with cherries in Himachal Pradesh. This move aims to enhance shelf life, broaden market reach, and ensure better prices for farmers. The company has upgraded its storage facilities in six locations in the state to facilitate cherry storage and distribution.
AAFL, known for its organized apple procurement in Himachal Pradesh, plans to gradually include other stone fruits like peaches and plums. Manish Agarwal, Business Head at AAFL, highlighted the company’s focus on enhancing market access for farmers during the ‘Fruit Horizon 2026’ event. Since its inception in 2006, Adani Agri Fresh has procured over 3 lakh metric tonnes of apples from 17,000 farmers, with direct payouts totaling around Rs 1,500 crore.
The company has a storage capacity of 25,000 metric tonnes in Himachal Pradesh, supporting extended shelf life and wider market penetration. By employing a standardized grading and sorting system, AAFL ensures transparent price determination based on quality, reducing reliance on traditional markets and benefiting farmers. Additionally, the Digital Mandi initiative allows farmers to sell produce remotely, expanding to more regions.
Adani Agri Fresh presently procures approximately 4% of Himachal Pradesh’s apple production and aims to increase its capacity to engage with more growers. Collaborating with the Adani Foundation, the company actively participates in healthcare, education, and community development initiatives in orchard regions.
