Adani Defence and Aerospace has handed over the initial set of 2,000 Prahar Light Machine Guns to the Armed Forces, marking a significant moment for the ‘Make in India’ initiative, as stated by CEO Ashish Rajvanshi. These 7.62 mm-calibre guns were produced at Adani’s Small Arms Complex near Gwalior. Rajvanshi mentioned that despite a seven-year deadline, they aim to complete the delivery of 41,000 LMGs in less than three years.
Rajvanshi expressed confidence in the team’s capability to manufacture 1,000 LMGs monthly following the successful delivery of the first 2,000. The event witnessed the presence of A. Anbarasu, DG Acquisition, Ministry of Defence, and other key figures from the private company. Anbarasu flagged off trucks carrying the initial batch of LMGs designated for the Army.
Emphasizing the significance of the ‘Make in India’ strategy, Rajvanshi highlighted the journey from acquiring base technology to becoming a full-gun OEM in six years. He credited the team’s dedication and policy support for this transformation. Anbarasu commended the swift transition of contracts into tangible deliveries, showcasing the ability to meet tight deadlines effectively.
