The Centre clarified that the telephone conversation on March 24 was solely between US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, refuting claims of Elon Musk’s involvement. This call, the first interaction since the Israel-US-Iran tensions, focused on the evolving West Asia situation. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson emphasized the exclusive participation of Trump and Modi in the call.
The clarification followed a report alleging Musk’s presence in the call based on unnamed US officials. The New York Times report highlighted Musk’s unusual participation in a high-level diplomatic call between two heads of state. Notably, Trump and Musk had a previous fallout after the billionaire left his government role.
It remained unclear why Musk would have been part of such a diplomatic conversation or if he spoke during the call. Prime Minister Modi later shared insights from the conversation on X, emphasizing India’s stance on de-escalation and peace in West Asia. The government’s clarification aimed to dispel speculations surrounding a private individual’s reported involvement in a sensitive diplomatic engagement.
