Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL) and Dioxycle, a French clean-technology company, have announced a partnership to develop low-carbon chemical production in India. The collaboration will kick off with a pilot facility at an Adani Group site to produce formic acid using captured carbon dioxide and renewable electricity.
Formic acid and its derivatives find extensive use in various industries like textiles, agriculture, and manufacturing. The project aims to showcase the conversion of captured carbon emissions into valuable products using clean energy sources. The partnership leverages Dioxycle’s electrically driven chemical manufacturing technology and Adani Group’s clean-energy capabilities to establish a sustainable and cost-effective model for chemical production.
Adani Group Director Jeet Adani expressed pride in piloting India’s first formic acid production facility powered by renewable electricity and captured carbon. The partnership signifies the convergence of clean technology and industrial scale to revolutionize essential chemical production methods. Dioxycle’s CEO, Sarah Lamaison, highlighted the potential for reshaping chemical production by combining clean technology with industrial scale in India.
The collaboration between Adani Enterprises and Dioxycle extends beyond formic acid production to explore a broader range of chemicals used in energy, materials, packaging, and manufacturing sectors. The initiative marks Adani Group’s strategic entry into the chemicals sector, capitalizing on its renewable energy and infrastructure strengths while diversifying its business portfolio for the future.
