India recently concluded the second edition of the Research Science Initiative (RSI)-India at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru. This program, supported by the Adani Group, aimed to nurture young scientific talent by bringing together students from across India to engage in advanced research activities with faculty members. The initiative allowed selected students to participate based on merit, free of cost.
The program concluded with a Student Research Symposium where participants presented their research papers and oral presentations in various STEM disciplines. Awards were given for outstanding research presentations, and all scholars received completion certificates. Sanjay Palsamudram, Founder of the Palsamudram Family Trust and Advisor to IISc, highlighted the importance of the initiative in providing deserving scholars with transformative experiences.
Palsamudram acknowledged the Adani Group for their financial support, emphasizing the significance of STEM research in national development. Modeled after the renowned Research Science Initiative in the US, RSI-India offers school students a hands-on research experience beyond traditional classroom education. Participants engage in original research projects for six weeks under the guidance of scientists and researchers.
The program also featured the Palsamudram Distinguished Lecture Series, where experts from various fields shared insights on science, technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation. This initiative aims to expose students to cutting-edge research areas and practical applications, enhancing their understanding of the scientific landscape.
