The Adani Group has revealed plans to invest Rs 2,500 crore in setting up an integrated missile manufacturing ecosystem in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh over the next three years. This initiative aims to establish South Asia’s largest private-sector missile ecosystem, consolidating the entire value chain from raw materials to mission-ready missile systems in one location. Adani Enterprises Director Jeet Adani highlighted that this project signifies a significant advancement for India’s private defense manufacturing sector, enhancing the nation’s self-reliance in strategic defense capabilities.
The Shivpuri complex will focus on manufacturing medium- to long-range missile systems, alongside developing facilities for composite propellant production and TNT and explosive-grade materials, aiming to reduce India’s reliance on defense imports. The endeavor is expected to create approximately 5,000 direct and indirect job opportunities and foster the growth of more than 50 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through a specialized defense supply chain. Jeet Adani also emphasized the broader investments made by the Adani Group in Madhya Pradesh, including commitments announced at the Global Investors Summit in Bhopal.
As part of the Adani Group’s extensive investment commitment in the state, the defense project in Shivpuri aligns with their broader vision to contribute to various sectors such as hydro pumped storage, cement, mining, smart meters, and thermal energy. These investments are projected to generate around 1.2 lakh jobs in Madhya Pradesh by 2030. Additionally, the group has already made substantial investments in its Ametha and Kymor plants in the Katni district, with Adani Power currently supplying 1,200 MW of electricity to Madhya Pradesh and more under development.
Jeet Adani further mentioned the group’s initiatives in renewable energy, with commissioned wind energy projects in Lahori, Dhar, Ratlam, and Ujjain, and plans for a new cement plant in Ujjain. The recent foundation stone laying for a Rs 1,060 crore cement unit in Guna was highlighted as a significant milestone in the district’s economic development.
