Industry experts at the ‘Hindu Maharashtra Infrastructure Conclave 2026’ in Mumbai praised the Adani Group for its significant investments in projects like the Navi Mumbai International Airport and the redevelopment of Dharavi, emphasizing their positive impact on Maharashtra’s economic development. The group’s involvement in sectors such as electricity and renewable energy was also commended for setting a benchmark for successful public-private partnerships in mega projects.
Dr. Mahendra P. Kalyankar, CEO of the Slum Rehabilitation Authority in Mumbai, announced plans for a skill development project in Dharavi, including the establishment of the Dharavi Experience Centre before August 15. He expressed confidence in the project’s progress, aiming for a developed Maharashtra and India by 2047.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde highlighted the holistic development vision for Maharashtra, extending from Mumbai to Surjagad and emphasizing the importance of infrastructure, affordable housing, health, education, and environmental initiatives. He underscored the commitment to the Dharavi redevelopment project, focusing on housing rights, dignity, and the goal of creating a slum-free Mumbai.
The Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP) aims to enhance the quality of life for Dharavikars by providing improved infrastructure and public amenities, transforming Asia’s largest slum into India’s most ambitious urban rehabilitation initiative. The project’s master plan focuses on driving economic change, building resilient infrastructure, and ensuring equity in Dharavi’s development.
Dharavi’s transformation will include a transit-oriented development with enhanced connectivity, featuring a new metro corridor and dedicated infrastructure for non-motorized transport. The project aims to improve last-mile connectivity and promote walkability across all neighborhoods, envisioning a vibrant and sustainable urban environment.
