Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ) have extended their collaboration with US-based Kaleris to drive AI-led advancements in their ports and logistics network. This partnership aims to introduce cutting-edge automation, optimization, and digital solutions to 15 container terminals, enhancing operational efficiency and capacity. The Adani Group company disclosed that this move aligns with its strategic vision for FY31, involving an $850 million investment in technology modernization and decarbonization.
The collaboration signifies a significant step in APSEZ’s goal to establish a technology-driven integrated transport platform and achieve an annual cargo handling capacity of one billion tonnes by 2030. Kaleris will implement its terminal operating system and AI-enhanced container handling solutions across 15 APSEZ container terminals at various domestic and international ports under a multi-year agreement. Notably, this expansion follows the successful initial phase deployment at six ports.
Ashwani Gupta, the Whole-time Director and CEO of APSEZ, emphasized the pivotal role of AI-enabled automation in shaping the future competitiveness of the ports and logistics sector. Gupta highlighted that integrating Kaleris’ solutions will enhance productivity, streamline operations, and elevate customer service standards. The partnership is expected to establish a unified digital infrastructure across APSEZ’s maritime and logistics network, enabling advanced planning and operational efficiency.
The rollout is projected to unlock an additional 91 million metric tonnes of cargo handling capacity by 2030, representing a substantial growth opportunity for APSEZ. Kirk Knauff, President and CEO of Kaleris, lauded APSEZ’s commitment to leveraging AI in scaling up their port operations. Knauff expressed confidence in the partnership’s success, citing the positive outcomes already achieved in the collaboration.
