Afghanistan’s Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, Mawlawi Ataullah Omari, arrived in New Delhi for a visit focused on strengthening bilateral relations and discussing mutual interests. The Ministry of External Affairs welcomed the Afghan Minister, expressing anticipation for productive discussions on shared concerns. This visit occurs against the backdrop of heightened tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, following recent deadly airstrikes by Pakistan in Afghan provinces.
India strongly criticized the airstrikes on Afghan soil, denouncing Pakistan’s actions as a reflection of its irresponsible behavior and attempts to deflect internal failures through cross-border violence. Last week, India reaffirmed its commitment to assisting Kabul through humanitarian aid and development initiatives. The MEA spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, reiterated India’s condemnation of the civilian casualties in the Pakistani airstrikes and emphasized India’s unwavering support for Afghanistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
India has been actively providing humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, including essential medicines and other forms of assistance. Recently, on June 17, India delivered five tonnes of crucial medicines to Kabul, underscoring its enduring dedication to the well-being of the Afghan populace. Additionally, on May 22, India supplied 20 tonnes of vaccines to Kabul, aiming to bolster immunization efforts for Afghan children.
