Afghan counter-narcotics forces in Helmand province have confiscated about 8,170 kg of heroin and drug-processing materials to combat drug trafficking. This seizure is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks involved in narcotics production and distribution. In a separate operation in Nimroz province, security forces seized 55 kg of methamphetamine, reinforcing the commitment to curb illegal drug activities.
Authorities have arrested 80 individuals across multiple provinces for drug trafficking, with significant quantities of illegal substances seized. The operations included targeted raids resulting in the confiscation of hashish, narcotic tablets, and materials used in heroin production. These arrests are part of a nationwide initiative to disrupt drug trafficking networks and prevent the spread of illegal drugs.
In Khost province, the counter-narcotics police publicly burned over 100 kg of various narcotics, including hashish, heroin, opium poppy, and stimulant tablets. The provincial director for Counter-Narcotics emphasized that producing or smuggling illegal drugs is prohibited, warning of legal consequences for violators. The Afghan government’s crackdown on illegal drugs has included destroying poppy farms and burning tons of narcotics nationwide in recent months.
