Afghan police conducted a targeted operation in northern Takhar province, confiscating 60 kg of illicit drugs and apprehending two suspected drug smugglers. The smugglers had hidden 52 kg of opium and 8 kg of hashish in a vehicle, intending to transport it to an undisclosed location. Nizamudin Omir, the provincial police spokesman, revealed that the drugs were discovered during a raid.
In a separate incident, Afghan security forces intercepted a significant drug-trafficking attempt in eastern Ghazni province, seizing 215 kg of opium. Additionally, the counter-narcotics police in Helmand province destroyed a drug-processing lab, recovering a large quantity of illegal substances used in drug production. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend those involved in these illicit activities.
The Ministry for Interior Affairs in Afghanistan announced that police operations in Uruzgan and Farah provinces led to the discovery and destruction of illegal drugs and drug processing labs. A total of 21 kg of illegal substances and 273 stimulant tablets were seized, with police also dismantling drug manufacturing facilities. Five individuals linked to the illicit drug trade have been taken into custody.
Continuing the fight against illegal drugs, Afghan authorities reiterated their commitment to eradicating the drug menace from the country. The counter-narcotics police are resolved to persist in their efforts until Afghanistan is free from the scourge of illegal drugs.
