Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called in the Pakistani Embassy’s Charge d’Affaires in Kabul regarding recent Pakistani military assaults on civilians in various Afghan regions. Kabul expressed strong condemnation for Pakistan’s incursions across the Durand Line, including attacks on public sites like a university in Kunar province. The Ministry criticized Pakistan for violating Afghan airspace and targeting civilians, labeling these actions as provocative and against international norms.

At least seven people have died and 75 have been wounded in Pakistani strikes on parts of Kunar province, with casualties rising as more victims are identified. The government hospital in Asadabad received numerous injured individuals, including women and children, for treatment following the attacks. Local sources reported strikes hitting residential areas and Sayed Jamaluddin Afghan University, causing damage and panic among students and staff.

Following the attacks, Afghan authorities called on Pakistan to cease such actions, emphasizing Afghanistan’s right to defend its territory and people. They warned Pakistan of potential repercussions if such “irresponsible actions” persist. Tensions between the two nations have heightened in recent months, leading to exchanges of fire and concerns over civilian casualties. Efforts at diplomatic and local mediation have so far failed to prevent further escalation.
