The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has delayed the bilateral series between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, originally planned to commence on March 13 in the United Arab Emirates, to late 2026 due to logistical challenges. The series, featuring six white-ball matches, was supposed to begin with three T20 Internationals at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on March 13, 15, and 17, followed by three One Day Internationals at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on March 20, 22, and 25.
The ACB, after obtaining approval from the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), had finalized arrangements for the matches at both venues. However, unforeseen circumstances in early March led to logistical issues affecting travel and operational planning for the series.
Consultations were held by the Afghanistan Cricket Board with key stakeholders, including the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), Sharjah Cricket Stadium (SCS), and Dubai International Cricket Stadium (DICS), to address the situation. Despite efforts to proceed as planned, the logistical challenges were beyond operational control, resulting in the decision to postpone the series for rescheduling.
The ACB emphasized that the Sri Lanka Cricket Board was informed throughout the process, and the postponement was decided in consultation with SLC. The United Arab Emirates remains the preferred venue for the rescheduled series, with new dates to be announced after further coordination between the boards and stakeholders.
