Four African cheetahs, transported from South Africa, landed in Bengaluru and were welcomed at Kempegowda International Airport by Karnataka’s Minister for Forest, Ecology, and Environment, Eshwar Khandre. The minister, returning from Kalaburagi, directly headed to the cargo terminal to receive the cheetahs destined for Bannerghatta Biological Park. Special precautions were taken to ensure the cheetahs’ well-being amidst the new climate and surroundings.
Officials have implemented stringent safety measures, including a 30-day diet plan, quarantine arrangements, and regular health check-ups for the cheetahs. Veterinary officers are closely monitoring the animals to adhere to all necessary precautions. Minister Khandre also oversaw the arrangements for the secure transfer of the cheetahs to Bannerghatta Biological Park.
In a recent statement, Minister Khandre expressed, “I welcomed four cheetahs arriving in Bengaluru from South Africa at midnight at Kempegowda International Airport. Upon my return from Kalburgi via Hyderabad, I directly received these foreign guests at the cargo transport division for their journey to Bannerghatta Zoo.” He emphasized the importance of ensuring the cheetahs’ comfort in the face of environmental changes.
The Forest Minister highlighted the disappearance of cheetahs from Karnataka’s forests and stressed the significance of preserving these rare animals by providing public access to them in zoos. He instructed Karnataka Zoo Authority officials to prioritize the safety and conservation of the cheetahs.
