Nearly five years after a murder and robbery case in 2021 went unsolved in Chhattisgarh, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch has apprehended the main suspect, Ajaykumar alias Lakshmisagar alias Kimtishri Mishra, in Naroda area, Ahmedabad. The case originated from a family dispute over property involving Shakuntala Yadav, widow of Amar Yadav, and her sons, Amit and Ajay Yadav. Allegedly, Shakuntala and Amit conspired to have Ajay killed due to property disagreements.
Amit Yadav, who worked at Narayan Hospital in Raipur, hired Mishra, a security guard at the time, to carry out the murder for Rs four lakh. Mishra, however, took the money and fled without executing the plan. Months later, pressured by Shakuntala and Amit, Mishra returned with an associate, Ketan alias K.T. Ramasundar Tiwari, intending to commit the murder but ended up robbing Shakuntala instead. They strangled her, stole cash and gold jewelry, and fled the scene.
Mishra, known for maintaining “digital silence” to evade capture, moved across various locations before settling in Ahmedabad in 2022 under a false identity. With the help of technical intelligence and informants, the police located and arrested him. Efforts are now underway to transfer Mishra’s custody to Raipur police for further legal action.
