The Ahmedabad Crime Branch apprehended two spa operators for possessing over 150 grams of mephedrone (MD) in the Vastral area. The seized narcotics are valued at more than Rs 15 lakh, discovered at a commercial site in the city during a raid by the Crime Branch team.
The arrested individuals, Tejaskumar alias Montu Thakkar, 38, and Ajay alias Ajju Jaiswal, 42, were engaged in spa-related businesses in the locality. The police found various items during the search, including mobile phones, weighing scales, packaging materials, cash, and identity documents, along with the illicit substance.
Authorities revealed that the accused were sourcing the contraband from Balotra in Rajasthan and distributing it through spa establishments in Ahmedabad. This incident highlighted spa operators’ direct involvement in the procurement and sale of narcotics within their premises, a rare occurrence in such cases.
DCP (Crime Branch) Ajit Rajian emphasized that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes. The seizure was a result of a specialized operation conducted by Squad No. 6, under the guidance of senior police leadership, to target both small- and large-scale narcotics networks in the city.
