The Ahmedabad Crime Branch confiscated 412 grams of mephedrone valued at Rs 12.36 lakh and apprehended two individuals in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad. The raid, conducted in the Gheekanta area near the Laxmi Mata temple, was prompted by specific intelligence received during election-related patrolling. Police, while on patrol for election security, acted on precise information about illegal drug activities in the vicinity.
Officials mentioned that the accused, identified as Malaram Devasi (26) and Ashok Kumar Darji (35), were found with a significant quantity of mephedrone without authorization. Devasi hails from Maru Khera village in Jalore district of Rajasthan, while Darji is from Tetoda village in Banaskantha district. The seized narcotic substance, along with other items, amounted to a total value of Rs 12,59,500.
In a separate incident on April 12, the city Crime Branch arrested two more individuals in possession of 52.410 grams of mephedrone in the Behrampura area. Hasmukh Sargara (27) and Manish Sargara (26) were apprehended with the banned substance and other related items. The total value of the seized property in this case was estimated at Rs 1,98,920, with legal proceedings initiated under the NDPS Act.
