The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation announced the restoration of regular traffic citywide following three days of intense rainfall. The South-West Zone experienced the highest rainfall at 625 mm, with other zones also recording significant amounts. Despite challenges, coordinated efforts have facilitated a swift recovery.
Municipal Commissioner Banchhanidhi Pani highlighted the city’s quick return to normalcy despite the unprecedented rainfall. Major roads are now open, except for one underpass undergoing dewatering. Efforts have successfully drained water from various areas, with ongoing operations in remaining affected locations.
The saucer-shaped topography of Bopal posed challenges due to water accumulation, leading to strategic measures by the AMC. Dewatering pumps and infrastructure improvements have significantly reduced waterlogging. The city’s cleanup operation involved clearing waste and ensuring safe drinking water supply through high chlorination.
Teams are repairing roads, removing water from basements, and addressing safety concerns. The weather alert has been downgraded, indicating improving conditions. Civic teams are on standby to address complaints promptly, ensuring citizen safety and effective resolution.
