Ahmedabad has been chosen as the venue for the IPL 2026 final, as per the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The playoffs will kick off with Qualifier 1 on May 26 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala, where the top two teams will compete for a direct spot in the final.
Following the league matches, the playoffs will progress to the New International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. The Eliminator on May 27 will see the third and fourth-placed teams facing off, while Qualifier 2 on May 29 will determine the second finalist by pitting the loser of Qualifier 1 against the winner of the Eliminator.
The season will culminate with the grand final on May 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, known as the world’s largest cricket stadium. The BCCI explained that due to logistical reasons, the TATA IPL 2026 Playoffs will be spread across three venues this season, making it a unique occurrence.
The IPL final is traditionally held at the home ground of the previous year’s champion. However, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru winning the last edition, M Chinnaswamy Stadium would have been the host. Yet, due to unforeseen local requirements beyond BCCI’s control, the final has been relocated from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad.
