Leader of the Opposition and AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami slammed the ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu, accusing it of a significant decline in law and order. Palaniswami expressed concern over the rise in violent crimes under the current administration, labeling them as widespread rather than isolated incidents. He highlighted recent incidents including the murder of a senior citizen in Krishnagiri and emphasized the need for citizen safety.
Palaniswami pointed out specific cases such as the killings in Tirusoolam and Sankarankovil, emphasizing the alarming pattern of violence. He criticized the government for its failure to address the deteriorating law and order situation over the past five years and urged immediate action to tackle the escalating crime rates. The former Chief Minister stressed the importance of restoring public safety and instilling confidence among residents.
Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) General Secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran also joined the criticism, raising concerns about a reported case of sexual harassment involving a young girl in Namakkal district. Dhinakaran questioned the government’s efforts in ensuring the safety of women and children, both in public spaces and within their homes. He condemned the lack of security for women in the state and criticized Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for failing to protect women effectively.
The opposition leaders’ allegations add to the political tension in Tamil Nadu as parties gear up for the upcoming Assembly elections.
