AIADMK’s Edappadi K. Palaniswami has announced a protest at Palani in Dindigul district on 25 July. The protest aims to demand a CBI inquiry into the alleged illegal registration of valuable land belonging to the historic Palani Mutt. Palaniswami criticized the State government for allegedly shielding those responsible and questioned the credibility of the ongoing CB-CID probe.
The AIADMK leader claimed that prime land worth around Rs 100 crore, belonging to the Palani Mutt, was fraudulently transferred through forged registrations. He alleged that the property, previously under the HR&CE Department, was illegally registered in the names of private individuals after a change in government. Palaniswami raised concerns over the suspicious registration process and highlighted unusual administrative decisions indicating a larger conspiracy.
Despite the seriousness of the case, Palaniswami stated that the State government’s failure to conduct an impartial investigation was concerning. He argued that only a CBI investigation could reveal the full extent of the alleged fraud, identify the culprits, and ensure accountability. The AIADMK has urged its members and the public to join the protest to demand justice and safeguard temple properties from encroachments and fraudulent transfers.
