The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, has been granted a special allocation in the Union Budget to enhance research, innovation, and overall development. Dr. Rima Dada, overseeing the AIIMS Hospital Media Cell, emphasized the importance of this funding, stating that it will support AIIMS in becoming a national center for advanced medical research and innovation. The allocation aims to facilitate cutting-edge research, promote innovation in healthcare delivery, and bolster developmental initiatives within the institution.
Dr. Rima highlighted that the budgetary support will enable AIIMS to enhance its research programs, foster innovation in various medical fields, and improve patient outcomes while advancing scientific knowledge. She mentioned that AIIMS has been at the forefront of clinical research, translational studies, and evidence-based medicine, and the additional funding will further enhance its capabilities. The allocation is also intended to upgrade infrastructure and facilities essential for advanced research and academic excellence.
The increased allocation of Rs 5,500.92 crore to AIIMS, New Delhi, this year, marking a 5.85% rise from the previous year, underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening premier healthcare institutions. This move is part of broader initiatives to enhance health outcomes, encourage innovation, and establish a resilient healthcare system in the country.
