Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, recently led the ceremonial celebrations marking the 30th Anniversary of the renowned Indian Air Force formation aerobatic team, Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT). The event took place at Air Force Station Bidar on May 26, honoring three decades of remarkable precision aerobatics and exceptional airmanship. Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Training Command, Air Marshal S Shrinivas also graced the occasion.
A special highlight of the event was the participation of CAS and AOC-in-C in the commemorative aerial display alongside the team. During the event, a poignant “Hollow Diamond” formation was flown in memory of the courageous team members lost during the team’s illustrious journey, reflecting the deep camaraderie and enduring spirit that define SKAT.
Established in 1996 at Bidar, SKAT, comprising experienced fighter pilots, has captivated audiences across India and abroad with over 800 air displays. Flying the Hawk Mk-132 aircraft in its iconic red-and-white livery, SKAT continues to inspire generations while embodying its motto – “Sadaiva Sarvottam” – Always the Best.
