Airlines from Gulf countries are continuing operations with about 100 flights expected to arrive in India from the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, as per the Ministry of External Affairs. Flights are being conducted based on operational and safety considerations.
Flights are also operating from Saudi Arabia and Oman to various destinations in India. Qatar Airways is anticipated to run approximately 10 flights to India with Qatar airspace partially open.
While Kuwait airspace remains closed, Jazeera Airways and Kuwait Airways are running non-scheduled commercial flights from Dammam Airport in Saudi Arabia to India. Indian nationals’ travel from Kuwait is facilitated through Saudi Arabia.
Bahrain airspace is open, and Gulf Air is set to commence limited flight operations from Bahrain to India. The airline is presently operating non-scheduled flights from Dammam Airport in Saudi Arabia to India, facilitating Indian nationals’ travel.
The Indian Embassy in Tehran has assisted in moving 2,313 Indian nationals from Iran to Armenia and Azerbaijan for onward travel to India, including students and fishermen.
Iraq airspace is open, and Iraqi Airways has resumed flights to India. Indian nationals’ travel from Iraq is facilitated through Jordan and Saudi Arabia to India.
Since the Iran war began on February 28, approximately 9,55,000 passengers have traveled from the Gulf region to India. The Ministry is actively coordinating with State Governments and Union Territories for information sharing and coordination.
Efforts are concentrated on ensuring the safety, security, and welfare of the Indian community in the region. Indian Missions and Posts are providing round-the-clock assistance through helplines and close engagement with local governments.
Regular advisories are being issued, covering local government guidelines, flight and travel situations, consular services, and welfare measures for the Indian community. The missions are actively involved with Indian community associations, professional groups, Indian companies, and other stakeholders in the region.
