Badruddin Ajmal, the chief of the regional party All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and a candidate in the Assembly polls from the Binnakandi seat, has disclosed assets totaling more than Rs 169 crore in his election affidavit. This includes movable assets valued at around Rs 52.43 crore and immovable assets worth approximately Rs 149.12 crore. His spouse, Rizwaana Badruddin Ajmal, has movable assets of about Rs 31.08 lakh and immovable assets valued at around Rs 6.82 lakh.
The affidavit also reveals liabilities amounting to over Rs 4.45 crore, primarily consisting of loans from financial institutions. Ajmal reported earnings of about Rs 3.21 crore for the financial year 2024-25, while his spouse declared an income of Rs 49,950 during the same period. Over the past decade, Ajmal has seen a significant increase in his declared wealth, with his total assets now exceeding Rs 169 crore, showcasing a steady rise in his net worth over the last 10 years.
During the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Ajmal declared assets ranging from approximately Rs 44-50 crore, which surged to around Rs 78-90 crore by the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, nearly doubling in five years. In his latest affidavit, Ajmal’s total assets have surpassed Rs 169 crore, representing a substantial increase and more than tripling his wealth compared to a decade ago. The surge is mainly attributed to a rise in immovable assets, standing at about Rs 149 crore, along with movable assets worth over Rs 52 crore.
His investments encompass real estate, business interests, shares, and financial instruments, as outlined in the affidavit annexures. The affidavit also highlights significant holdings in companies and partnership firms, along with assets like vehicles and jewellery. Ajmal’s immovable assets include agricultural and non-agricultural land, as well as residential properties in Assam and other states, reflecting a diversified real estate portfolio.
Regarding legal matters, the affidavit mentions one pending criminal case against Ajmal related to alleged objectionable remarks, currently under investigation. It further states that Ajmal’s highest educational qualification is matriculation from Darul Uloom Deoband.
