Despite goals from Malsawmsanga Renthlei and Jota giving Chanmari a 2-0 lead at halftime, strikes from Vincent Lalduhawma and Laldawngzuala’s brace led Aizawl to victory.
The win propelled Aizawl FC to second place temporarily with eight points from five matches, while Chanmari FC remained in seventh place with five points from the same number of matches. Laldawngzuala was named the Player of the Match for his standout performance.
Aizawl FC’s head coach R. Lalruatfela introduced two foreign players into the starting lineup for the first time this season, with Colombian defender Rodríguez Luis Ángel and Uzbek midfielder Tumur Talipov getting the nod. On the other hand, Chanmari FC’s head coach Victor Lalbiakmawia made three changes to his starting XI, including the return of Suanngaihmuana from suspension.
Chanmari FC started strongly, forcing Aizawl FC to defend deep and rely on counter-attacks. Despite the early pressure, Aizawl began to find their rhythm as the game progressed, with both teams showcasing tactical discipline in their gameplay.
Aizawl halved the deficit early in the second half, and within three minutes after the hour mark, they completed a remarkable comeback with Laldawngzuala’s quick-fire goals. The midfielder’s clinical finishing turned the game around, leaving Chanmari FC stunned.
