Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film ‘Chauhaan’ has stirred controversy on social media as the ‘Kshatriya Parishad’ criticized the movie makers for allegedly politicizing the Rajput identity. The group urged caution in portraying historical and community identities, emphasizing that the Chauhan lineage’s legacy should not be used for political agendas.
The ‘Kshatriya Parishad’ denounced Neeraj Yadav and Ajay Devgn for linking the Chauhan clan name to contemporary politics, stressing that such actions disrespect the historical significance of the Rajput lineage. They highlighted historical alliances between Afghans and Rajputs and called for a responsible engagement with India’s past by political figures, filmmakers, and media organizations.
While the ‘Kshatriya Parishad’ raised concerns about the politicization of Rajput identity, some social media users questioned the group’s authority to speak on behalf of the entire Rajput community. The diverse usage of the ‘Chauhan’ name across different castes was also pointed out by netizens.
Recently, the film’s title was revealed on Ajay Devgn’s father’s birth anniversary, with the announcement video featuring Amitabh Bachchan’s popular song ‘Jumma Chumma’ against the backdrop of Kashmir unrest. Directed by Neeraj Yadav and produced by Jio Studios and Anand L Rai’s Colour Yellow Productions, ‘Chauhaan’ is scheduled for release on October 1 next year.
