A remarkable unbeaten century by Ajay Rohera propelled Jabalpur Royal Lions to a convincing 54-run win over Malwa Stallions in the Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) T20 Scindia Cup 2026 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. This victory marked the Royal Lions’ third consecutive success in the tournament, with Rohera’s outstanding performance guiding his team to a total of 205/5 in 20 overs.
Jabalpur got off to a strong start with Rohera and Arpit Gaud forming a 48-run opening partnership. Despite a few setbacks that saw the Lions at 74/4, Rohera remained composed. He showcased a mix of power, timing, and calmness as he rebuilt the innings alongside Vedant Awasthi, who contributed a quick 20 off 11 balls. Rohera then took charge, dominating the bowling attack with an impressive unbeaten 130 off just 65 deliveries, the highest individual score of the season.
Rohera’s innings included nine fours and nine sixes, while Sanjog Nijjar’s unbeaten 24 off 15 balls provided crucial support as the Lions crossed the 200-run mark. Malwa Stallions, in response, struggled in their chase of 206 runs, losing wickets early on. Despite efforts from skipper Ashutosh Sharma and Saksham Purohit, the Stallions faltered. Jabalpur’s bowlers, led by Punit Datey and Nayan Mewada, maintained control to bowl out the Stallions for 151 in 18.4 overs.
Reflecting on his match-winning performance, Rohera emphasized his role in the team, stating, “My role in the team is very clear: to take responsibility and bat through the innings. Strike rate is important, but the ultimate goal is to help the team finish on the winning side. We had a simple plan before the match: play according to the ball, assess the situation, and react positively to whatever the game demands.”
