Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) leader Humayun Kabir criticized the 20 former Trinamool MPs for joining the National Citizens Party of India (NCPI) instead of resigning from the Lok Sabha and letting the public decide their fate. The rebel MPs submitted a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker announcing their move.
Kabir expressed that the rebel MPs, by speaking against the Trinamool Congress leadership, should have first resigned from the party they were elected on. He suggested that a new election should determine their future based on public support.
In response to MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar’s call for Trinamool MP Kalyan Banerjee’s expulsion over alleged misconduct, Kabir questioned the purpose behind the move. He emphasized that both leaders were elected on the same party symbol, raising doubts about the timing and intent of the request.
Regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s participation in the International Yoga Day event at Red Road, Kabir highlighted the need for uniformity in government decisions. He referenced the government’s decision to allow namaz at the Brigade ground instead of Red Road, stressing the importance of consistent application of rules for all events.
