Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav raised concerns on Sunday, claiming that a significant amount of money from offerings at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, is unaccounted for. Yadav emphasized the need for judicial involvement in this matter, calling it distressing news for devotees worldwide. He criticized the temple trust for the lack of transparency and accountability regarding the missing funds.
Yadav, in a social media post, expressed disappointment over the situation, labeling it as a disgraceful act by the temple trust. He highlighted the absence of explanations for the missing funds, urging for a proactive response to address the issue. The politician urged the court to take suo motu cognizance of the matter, emphasizing its significance in the faith of Lord Ram within the global Sanatan society.
Previously, Nripendra Mishra, the Chairman of the Ram Mandir Construction Committee, disclosed that donations exceeding Rs 3,000 crore were received for the temple’s construction. The total project cost is estimated at approximately Rs 1,800 crore, with the installation of the Ram Lalla idol in January 2024. Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a ceremonial flag hoisting at the temple in November 2025, coinciding with Lord Ram’s traditional wedding day.
Mishra, during a media interaction in March, highlighted the committee’s efforts to ensure compliance by reviewing vendor payments and necessary building documentation. He confirmed the completion of the temple construction and emphasized the importance of addressing pending issues for full compliance by the end of April.
