Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav visited BJP MLA Anupama Jaiswal at Medanta Hospital in Lucknow. Jaiswal sustained burn injuries while burning an effigy of Yadav during a protest over the Women’s Reservation (Amendment) Bill’s defeat in the Lok Sabha. The incident occurred when an effigy caught fire unexpectedly during the demonstration organized by the BJP against the INDIA bloc for opposing the women’s quota bill.
Yadav shared details of his visit on social media, emphasizing the need for harmony in society. He expressed his desire for peaceful coexistence and positive politics. The visit aimed to wish Jaiswal a speedy recovery and promote goodwill and harmony among people.
During the protest, Jaiswal, representing Bahraich, suffered burns to her face when the effigy unexpectedly ignited. The situation turned dangerous when a matchstick was lit, causing a sudden explosion inside the effigy. BJP District Vice President Rahul Rai suggested that excessive petrol in the effigy led to the fireball that injured Jaiswal.
Following the incident, Jaiswal was promptly attended to by party workers who extinguished the flames before she was taken to the hospital for treatment. Earlier, Akhilesh Yadav had urged caution in a video message, emphasizing the need for proper arrangements for the treatment of the injured woman who ignited the fire.
