The team behind director Mohan G Kshatriyan’s upcoming historical film ‘Draupathi 2’ has decided to replace singer Chinmayi’s version of the song ‘Emkoney’ with an alternative singer in the movie. Director Mohan G Kshatriyan and producer Chola Shakkaravarthi confirmed this decision, stating that the song will now be featured in the voice of the new singer. Singer Chinmayi had previously apologized on social media for singing the song, citing conflicting ideologies.
Director Mohan G Kshatriyan expressed disappointment over the situation, mentioning that complaints have been lodged with the director’s union and the producers’ council against Chinmayi for defaming the film. The team has opted for a different voice for the song, and the film has garnered significant anticipation among fans and movie enthusiasts. The screenplay for the historical film draws inspiration from the book ‘Moondram Vallalla Maharaja’ by historian Annal Kandar.
The film, set in 14th-century South India, features actor Chirag Jani as Mohammad Bin Tughlaq in a prominent role. Cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a ‘U/A’ certificate, ‘Draupathi 2’ boasts a multilingual cast including Richard Rishi, Rakshana Indusudan, and Natti Natraj. The movie, produced by Chola Shakkaravarthi and G.M. Film Corporation, showcases three formidable villains, with Chirag Jani as the primary antagonist.
