US tech giant Amazon has unveiled its second largest office in Asia, located in Bengaluru. The 12-storey campus, spanning 1.1 million square feet, will accommodate more than 7,000 employees engaged in various sectors such as ecommerce, operations, payments, technology, and seller services in India. This move signifies Amazon’s commitment to Bengaluru and highlights India’s emergence as a key global technology and innovation center.
The inauguration of this new campus in Bengaluru demonstrates Amazon’s significant investments in India, totaling over $40 billion, with further commitments of $35 billion by 2030. Positioned 15 kilometers from Kempegowda International Airport, the corporate building is designed to foster collaboration, flexibility, learning, and well-being among employees. The facility aims to bring teams together and promote innovation and talent in the region.
The Bengaluru campus integrates adaptable workspaces and collaborative zones structured into self-sustaining neighborhoods, featuring meeting rooms, huddle spaces, breakout areas, and event spaces capable of hosting over 200 individuals. Additionally, the campus offers recreational facilities like basketball and pickleball courts, an amphitheater, landscaped lawns, and outdoor community spaces. Employees can enjoy a variety of global cuisines at the two-floor cafeterias within the premises.
Amazon’s new campus emphasizes responsible practices such as sustainable material sourcing, reuse of office assets, and high-efficiency systems to minimize embodied and operational carbon emissions.
