New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr, aged 25, has been named the new captain of the New Zealand women’s cricket team in all formats, succeeding Sophie Devine. Kerr, who has participated in 172 international matches, will lead the team starting with the upcoming series against Zimbabwe.
Having dreamt of representing New Zealand since childhood, Kerr expressed her excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to captain her country. She emphasized the potential of the team and highlighted the importance of unity, support, and mutual success among team members.
Kerr, who debuted for New Zealand at 16, has accumulated 3,757 runs and 201 wickets across formats. Notably, she was named Player of the Tournament during the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
